Where would it be best to hook chains onto tractor with binders to hold tractor in place on back of flatbed? Thanks in advance for all the help you have giving me.

Paul..... .know you didn't specify but most N-Tractor haulers find that 16' dual axle, 7,000lb flatbed trailers with brakes haul better than shorter ones because you can get your tongue weight set easier and therefore haul safer (no fishtailin').

Most haulers "streach" the tractor fore/aft with come-along/binder chain to keep it from rolling. Also use wheel chocks. Set yer implement onnna the deck. Then at least one over the tranny side to side. Somthin to pull down the front axle. Sumptin to pull down the rear axle. Sumptin to pull down yer implement. They got some really neat webbelt wheel tiedowns, if'n ya gitts into serious haulin'.

Bottom line, ya kin nevar use too many tiedowns..... Dell, the self-appointed safety preacher

We use one 2" wide nylon strap over the tractor right behind the shifter, and one 2" nylon strap across the brush hog. we also leave it in gear.

Well, after everyone here putting up with me, I figured I oughta try to help someone...The black is the trailer. The blue is the tractor. The red is chain and chain come alongs. My dad got a good deal on about 20 heavy chain come alongs at an auction, so this is how we secure tractors for hauling. Everywhere a chain or come along attaches to the trailer is a piece of rebar bent in a U shape and welded to the trailer. The 4 chains around the axles are pulled tight against the tires. The ones going straight off are off of the drawbar and front bumper. Everything is tightened with come alongs, and then the handles of the come alongs are zip tied to the chain to keep them from flopping around.

Paul, Do you have a bumper/grille guard on yours? We put a clevis on the cross draw bar in back, and run a chan through that, then a clevis in the tab on the grille guard, run a chain through that, and use a wratchet binder on either end to draw against the other. Pete

Paul, I usually hook one chain around one side of the front axle then down to the front of the trailer then back up to the other side of the front axle. Then I wrap a chain around one of the rear axle trumpets, watch out you don't get the brake shaft too, then down to the trailer and back up to the other trumpet and then take the tractor out of gear and tighten the the chains with a load binder. If you can't go to the center of the back of the trailer you can go from one side of the trailer up and over the trumpet under the center section then over the other trumpet then down to the side of the trailer and tighten. If you need more help ask a friend if you know one that drives big rig flatbeds and see if he will come over and give you some pointers. Good luck and be safe Greg NE
