I was looking a late 8N for sale with a trip-bucket loader on the weekend. The hydraulic cylinders are fed from a 3/8"? pipe exiting the transmission under the right side floorboard. I checked my own 8N and there is a plug in the same spot. Does this mean the bucket is operated from the 3point hitch control? How does this affect the raising and lowering of the 3point hitch?
Thanks; Ger

Yes, the hyd. fluid line to the loader is connected to the test/accessory port on your 8N, and you use your touch control lever to operate it. However, your lift arms must be chained down, so that when you raise the touch control lever, the fluid is diverted via pressure to the loader instead of the lift arms on the 3-pt. hitch. A more convenient method is to connect an auxiliary pump at the front of the tractor and drive it via a driveshaft connected to the crankshaft pully. This would allow you to continue to be able to utilize the rear lift when the loader is installed.

Hope this helps..... ..... Ed

Thanks! exactly the info I was looking for. The rear arms are currently held down by bars. This arrangement seems rather primitive. I guess a shut/off valve could be installed on the front run to allow the rear to operate but that's still just another primitive solution. Don't know if I'm buying anyway...
Thanks; Ger
