Is there a (relatively) easy way to remove the rear axle bearings on a 44' 2N so as to replace my leaking outer axle seals? All the bearing pullers I'm familiar with will not work with this absurd design. Who in their right mind would design an axle and put the seals behind pressed on bearings? I can see why Ford switched this setup when they went to the 8N models.

Are you sure it is the outer seals that are leaking and not just the gasket/shim interface on each side of the brake backing plate? Most leaks are a result of problems there. If it is the outer seals but your bearings are in good shape I would just use sure seals. Or you could try Dr. Zane's unconventional method as at the link below. Hope this helps.
