Does anybody know anybody who has an NAN? Has anyone ever seen an NAN? There should be 9NANs, 2NANs and 8NANs around, but I've never seen one nor heard tell of one. How many were made? Do they still exist? Is there a downside to having one? Since gasoline is a volatile fuel, I would think that these tractors would be perfect for hunting clubs etc. to have on-site without concern for proper fuel storage in wetlands or the woods! Or, is the NAN series as mythical as BIG FOOT?

I'm looking for information about Ford 8 NAN .
I have one model 1949. He has 2 tanks one little for gasoline and other bigger for Kerosene. It start with gasoline and after it is hot it must switched to Kerosene. The mainfold and carburator are diferent than tha 8N, all the rest are similar . In my coutry (Chile)ther are not uncomon to see some tractors.

Not at all a practical idea for a hunting camp use. If you need a diesel and want Ford features look for an 841-D, 861-D or later rig. Would come in at a $ lower than a NAN if you could find one.

It is pictured in "Illustrated Ford & Fordson Buyer's Guide" by Ropert N. Pripps.

In the US they are very rare! but more common overseas.

Palmer Fossum has one of everything. If N's were a religion (and I'm not saying they aren't) then Fossum's place would be Mecca. All true believers must make on trip there.

Arthur, you might enjoy reading more about some of the overseas (England, Europe) versions of similar tractors like the Fergusons that use Tractor Vaporizing Oil - TVO or kerosene. Here's a link

I think that George my have a point here. It is common knoledge that a lot of common tractors are used in argintina and africa and places and came factory equipted to run on alcohal. They could never have sold such a trator in the United States because none of us would ever waste good alcohal by pouring it into our tractor unless maybe to plow corn or sorgum.

Arthur, my understanding is that they are much more common overseas. Not much different other than the manifold and the dual fuel tank. They started on gas and then switched to kerosine after warmup.

I had a John deere back in the late 60's that had two tanks, would start on gas & run on kerosene when it got hot. It's long gone now, with 8 fords around I don't think it would survive anyway.
