I have good pressure except at idle when it drops to nothin or next to it anyway. I'm thinking that my oil pump must be ok and my bearings have a little wear on 'em. Can I get an amen to that?

Does anyone know how to edit the E-Mail dropdown menu on this board?

Scott, you are obsessed, have you talked to a doctor about this, you seem to be on some mission, were you around when the 9N's came off the line? do you really know for sure that they were all gray then. does it really matter? Is the important thing not that they are being painted and preserved? You are only opening yourself up to more ridicule and abuse(like Rob keeps doing) by continuing this babble about all gray tractors. Besides, what makes you think this was an opportunity to talk color when most of this post was really just making fun of Rob. Rob that got his feathers ruffled, even after I welcomed him to this forum of insane idiots that love tractors and are suffering from cabin fever. Did I win yet Don?

Ok, the starter is in and it runs. Cold oil pressure about 35psi and drops to about 25psi when warm. About what I expected from a tired ol Ford Ranger with about 235k miles. A couple of burnt valves besides makes it about time for a rebuild/burial time for a new truck/jeep. I wonder if I could find one with woodgrain sides? Oh yeh, and welcome to the N-board Rob where we have fun while we make fun of you! Right Darren?

This board ain't about the starter or oil pressure in your truck. Maybe there's a truck board somewhere I don't know. Don't care.
Oh yeah, if I want to know how to rebuild something I'll let you know. Or maybe I won't. Yeah, I probably won't. Anyway, you've made it clear you don't know what a "repair" is or when it's the proper choice. You know, cost of repair v. cost of rebuild. It's a usual consideration and involves only the most basic math. I'm surprised you don't understand the concept.
Wait a minute! Is this a pattern? You don't understand the reasoning behind the decision to repair v. rebuild. You don't understand the concept of a welcome. You don't understand? Hmmmmm mmmmm m. I know you miss a lot but I would was thinking there was a spark of intelligence behind that sharp tongue of yours. Oh well, I've been wrong before.

Oh well, I have to go fix my modern(83)Ford right now. It has plenty of oil pressure when it is running, but not right now 'cause it won't start. I have to put a new starter in it. I will tell you what the oil pressure is when I get done!

I did a "Complete" rebuild on my 1950 8n some 4-5 years ago, I have 40 psi cold, hot, low rpm's,high rpm's. Sure glad I was'nt cheap and did a complete rebuild. It sounds to me that someone must have done a "1 piston rebuild" on your N !, Man that sucks, why can't people just bite the bullet and fix things right the "First"time !

Dave, glad you had success on you 8N engine rebuild. How long did it take you from initial teardown to firing it back up. Just wondering......Tÿlër (MÐ)

Well Tyman, when I rebuilt my 8n (The right way), I first split the tractor, then tore the motor down and shipped it off to the machine shop . The whole deal took me about 3 months and it's still running stong Because I fixed it right the first time. nm dave#1

As far as oil pressure, mine idles at about 20 psi warm. Perhaps the pressure relief valve on yours is set too tight.

As far as e-mail pull downs, I assume you mean the addresses stored by your browser that are displayed below a data entry field (like when posting a message?)

click on the address field box

cursor down to display a list of previously entered information

cursor down to the one you want to remove and press the delete key

Ok, I got the dropdown list edited thanks. I had to go through a lot more to edit the list in my browser. This board is easy! I'm thinking it's not a tight relief valve that brings down my oil pressure.
