...About tire pressure. What is the correct pressure for un-filled, un- weighted, 4 ply rear tires? Mine are at 26 psi, but from what I've read, that seems kind of high.

68 mag,
Unless you like to "ride high in the saddle", you better let some air out of your tires.
Should be about 12psi.
Click on the link below, then click on 8N SPECIFICATIONS and DATA.
Remember to bookmark the page for future reference, lotta good info there.

Hey 68 Mag!

I keep mine at 20 but that's just because one of them won't hold air for more than 4 days..... The tire sidewall should have a maximum pressure rating on it somewhere, but it may be really small and hard to read. I think my mis-matched Firestone/GoodYear combo are reated for about 15 psi.

What did you decide about that Lincon?

Well, I'll look at the tires tommorrow. The Licoln...well, we still havent decided. It'll either set and rot away, or we'll attempt to restore it...but it wont be parted out.

Fair enough.

I would still recommend that you take a look at the rear end. If it's got disc brakes, it's worth your time and effort to remove it and store it somewhere out of the elements. It really is a valuable assembly (axles, third member, housing, hubs, brakes) that you may well wish you had someday.
