Is my 1944 2n supposed to have a cast pto cap ( unlike the ones on ebay now )? I see that just 8n has 8n battery covers. What if any is the differance if any between 2n and 8n covers?

Tyman; That PTO cover from the 8N fit my TO-30 also. I found it in the tool box on the one I was taking apart walked over to my TO and it screwed right in. It makes a nice cover for it. Mark H.

Tyler, you are slipping. The battery cover on the 9-2ns was just "a pan" that fit into the hood. The 8n cover has a little hinged door on it and fits on top of the battery and is held in place by two hold down bolts.Naa covers were made like the 8n cover except were the battery cables come out from under it.Very little diff. don

My battery hold down looks like the pic you have of the 45 2n. It has a frame that goes around the top of the battery and is held down by wing nuts. To me the frame around the battery looks like the battery cover for the 8n in the assembly manual, but with the center cut out. I can not really say for sure because it has become so thin through the years that i can not tell if it was cut out or not. Thanks for the info. guys!

Now you have switched from "battery covers" to battery hold downs. You are correct on the hold downs for 9-2 ns. don
