Just wondering if anyone has a box scraper that they use behind an N. I know they are good for grading and was wondering what the big "hooks" are for. I need a good excuse to tell my wife how badly I need one. Been taking advantage of the Quality stores g.o.b. sale. Picked up a dirt scoop and a landscape rake, under 150.00 ea.
Thanks, RAJ

You just need one if you don't have one already. Tell your wife you are going to go get a box blade while she cooks dinner and cleans the house. You may want to work in how she would not understand all this man type stuff. Then run fast and duck if she has anything to throw at you.

I really like my 6 foot box blade for scraping the road and leveling the horse paddock.

Ditto on watching purchases from Farm and Country or what ever they are calling themselves. A friend got an item home and then found out it was was defective they took it back and issued her a credit, the manager admitted that they should not have sold it to her.. now they won't honor the credit ...they told here to apply to the bankrupcy court.

RAJ, I was just at the tool talk section of this board and there was alot of talk about the not so good sale prices at the Quality stores. My $.02 would be do some homework first on local prices before rushing over to the drop off your money at the Quality store.

I bought a 6 footer at Qff last year and love it, sue beats my back blade when doing the heavy grading, you won't be sorry. Second gear seems to work the best when I am leveling the land out. You'll know when the box is full. Getch one soon. Paul

As Ed said, they are used to break up hard soil or, in my case, the gravel in the driveway. Every so often I need to break up the driveway stone and regrade it to get rid of the "water holes". A regular rear blade will just skip over while the box blade with the scarifiers will break it up and leave a much smoother driveway.

The big hooks are called scarifiers and are used to break up hard soil, packed gravel, etc. so you can scrape it into the box. The should swivel and lock up and down so that you only use them when needed.

Hope this helps..... ..... Ed
