I enjoy this forum and learn so much...but many of the discussion items surround problems and repairs. well, get this: My 9n? the one I hauled back on the interstate system in 5 hours of pouring rain and sleet, the one, that I power washed because I was psyched to show it to the wife, the one, that at 11:00 at night, I tried to start...beat-butt tired from driving all day, the one, that wouldn't start, the one that wouldn't start for 3 days later in rain and sleet, the one, that I towed my wife around the yard in, cuz that was the best I could do. Well, guess what? I bought a new battery...1,000 amps...the strongest battery I could find that would blow the head off this tractor yet fit in the battery compartment. Guess what!? It started, and I drove ths 59 year old tractor around in circles, hooting and hollering at dusk tonight. This 1941 9n with peeled paint, bent 3PTH, dented hood sides and grill, missing pieces, one headlight (not hooked up), rusted through seat...fired right up and ran. The lift worked, the PTO worked, the brakes worked, the clutch was smooth. It was the gosh darn battery after-all. Now I'm on my way. thanks to all who were so nice and encouraging. Next step, straightening arms, replacing the seat, and maybe oven and brake cleaner. 9n'er! No more tow rides now...

Congrats! By the way, is that a new handle for you? I seems to recollect a fella by the name of tm with the same situation.

If you are going to use that 9N to push snow or grade the drive etc. you are going to need position control on the lift. If you will click on the link below you will see what I mean.

as far as I'm concerned.

When you've contributed what he has here, maybe you'll have something to say about this.

Far as I'm concerned DOCTOR Zane can do whatever he wants on this forum. Two years ago I didn't know a thing about Ford tractors. Then I started reading Zane's posts. He knows Ford tractors inside and out. What do you know? Other than how to be an anonymous coward?

Ditto to what Ed G. and the rest have said. I know who on this board has helped this newbie more than anybody. I know who Zane is. Who you?

You gutless lowlife. Zane has contributed more than his share of dues to this forum and is a paying advertiser. Are you jealous of his expertise or what?

If you look closely at the top of this page (as you suggested) you will notice that Zane also now sponsors this board. That, combined with all the free help he's given, entitles him to not be bothered by the likes of you.

Go ahead and invent something useful we can use. Put up some of your cash to sponsor this board.
Help dozens if not hundreds of folks for free.
THEN you can complain.

If you spend enough time on this board you will come to recognize certain names. These names represent those among us who have just a little more knowledge (or a lot more!) and a little more experience. If that knowledge and experience comes with a plug for a really clever device like the Zane Thang, which in this case might very well help the person, then so be it!

The opinion is welcome, but make sure you know what you're talking about, and who! If you can't put your name on it, don't post it!

HANK

Dear
If you were a frequent user of this board and really interested in improving it's efficiency you would have learned something from the post by BigRed or OldRed of a couple of weeks ago. The ice is THIN and the water is DEEP as far as this topic goes. I don't think you really want to go there any more. FWIW

Correct, and since the moderator's name is Kim, not "Come on Zane you can't have it both ways!", why don't you let the moderator do her job, if she feels it necessary. Zane has given more free advice here, and privately via email, than anybody named "Come on Zane you can't have it both ways!" that I've seen.

When you've contributed as much to this forum as Zane, and when you find the guts to use your real name when you confront someone, maybe you can be promoted to moderator.
