No No No. It is definitely worth spending money on. I would do the initial things to find out why it seized. I don't know what shape the machine is in or what your needs are, but a running 9N will bring at least $2,000 in almost any condition. Worst comes to worst, you can by a rebuilt engine for $1299 exchange from CT. That $1299 + $40 in gaskets and a day and a half's work will get you the $2,000+ more for the new engine. Other option is to part it out, which is a shame if the rest is operational. My engine had a cracked block and a few other maladies so I opted for the engine change out since I needed the tractor-it is a working tractor. I cringed a little when I got the bill, but a year later, I know I just used it for moving a good sized pile of dirt, and it was nice that it started and ran. As far as the engine, you can rebuild it, have it rebuilt, or opt as I did. Final cost will probably be within $300 one way or another. I ordered the engine from CT, had it in two days with $40 shipping. Return of the old was prepaid. Only other parts I needed was a gasket set and a new set of head bolts. There are a lot of ways to go and a lot of opinions, but unless the tractor is really, really, in bad shape, I think I would breathe some new life into it. With a rebuild, it will go another 60 years. IMHO JerryU
