Need a little info please. Looked in the shop manual for this part mounted underneath the rear gear housing of my '52 8N but only saw a small picture of this 5" X 12" double layered plate/bracket, one layer flat, the other with two rises/humps. The flat side bolts against the under carriage. The end slightly projecting from underneath has about a 1 1/2" hole in it. What is this and what's it's use? I appreciate the info. Paul B

Hi Paul: The picture below shows the whole enchilada, with the swinging drawbar that mounts to the bracket you described, and the drawbar stabilizers and the anti-sway bars connected beneath the fender mounts.

Hope this helps..... ..... Ed

Nahhhh, just scuff up those stabilizer/anti-sway bars to match up. It'll look correct!

Ed & Paul, Right under the PTO is where "our" 12" plate is compared to yours which seems to be about 4" . Mine came with a trailer ball mounted on it, and is ideal for towing something with the hook-up down low so as not to upset the tractor backwards. It can also be "offset" to one side or the other for pulling trailer or piece of equipment.

There are two different kinds of swinging drawbars commonly used, one like pictured previously, and one that uses a bracket that attaches beneath and around the PTO to control the swing, like the one pictured here on my 3000:

That bracket is the mounting bracket for the original swinging draw bar. The other end of the draw bar rested on the 26 inch lower lift arm drawbar that gave you up and down positioning.

Paul I belive what you are talking about is the drawbar mount. A 1.5" (1 and a 1/4 on mine) pin goes upward and is retained by a hairpin clip. A flat plate with a hole in either ends mounts here. The other hole in the other end is for a clevis pin or trailer ball or other attachment device like for a chain or hook. I belive the flat plate is also call a swinging draw bar. I'm quoting from the best of my knowlege which isn't much but there are a bunch of good people here who know much more then me and will catch it if i make a mistake or give you a better place to go for info.FWIW.
