No one seems to have asked you where you live! It makes a big difference if you live in Missouri or Minnesota...

If you typically see only relatively small snowfalls (1-4 inches), then a back blade will do fine. If you want to do battle with drifts, deeper snow, etc., a front blade, chains, and liquid-filled rear tires might be in order.

I take care of most snowfalls (up to 5-6 inches) with a back blade, but in heavy snow I break out the Ariens snowblower. It's a lot more work and a lot less fun, though.

Bob is correct - if money is no object. However, a back blade is only a couple hundred dollars and requires no hydraulic modifications. There were many postings on this topic last year. Check the archives.

My neighbor has a front mounted snow blade with the frame mounted under the tractor. It uses a hydraulic cylinder to lift the blade. It cost less than a front bucket loader, but it will not allow you to pile the snow as high.

Have you considered buying a fertilizer distributor for the 3-point and using it to sling salt or calcium chloride? We don't have that problem here in the Sunny South!
Seriously, the most practical solution to me would seem to be using a front-end loader with a blade attachment. There were several recent posts about this topic. Check the archives.
