Has anyone have any ideas on the possibility (or feasibility) of hooking a log splitter up to an 8N (like where and how)?

Or, attaching a chipper/shredder to the PTO using a belt (already have chipper, but engine died).

Thanks Alan

Alan..... you might like to checkout "www.cadplans.com". They have do-it-yourself plans for #210 vert/horz splitter for 3-point. Also back-hoe's, loaders and alot of other 3-point useful attachments depending how handy you are ..... .Dell

Thanks - it was a Wisconson 8HP, home made massive chipper/shredder, more steel in it then in the hood of my wife's car.

Re: Possible leaking head gasket in reply to Steve WI, 05-24-2000 13:45:47
I used a composit gasket I got from NH, and I don't think I had a choice. It looked to me like metal covered with some sort of composit material on the outside. But are you sure the head gasket is the problem here inasmuch as the head has no oil galleries. Do you have water in the oil pan ? Are you sure it's oil in the radiator. It could be just sludge from all the old anti-freeze left in for years. Generally, if you've got a leaking head gasket you should see bubbles in the radiator as you rev it up from escaping compression into the water jacket.

Somebody told me that the old Fords are a problem with a 3pt log splitter because of one-way hydraulics. this is a little beyond my knowledge but i understand that a log splitter requires two-way.
