How about some pros & cons on wheel weights? Calcium/steelweights? Which gives me the lowest center of gravity, We have hillsides here. How to mount steel weights? My plans are to push snow & do some mowing. I have a front loader if this has any bearing on the subject.

Rusty..... I am not a big fan of the old wheel weighting scheme of calcium chloride in the tires as CaCl eats iron like its going out of style. Howsomever....old anti-freeze is gentle to rubber and steel and doesn't freeze eather (grin) often times you can get it for "free". Yeah, CaCl weighs more than regular ol' anti-freeze but I don't think the extra weight is worth the problems now that anti-freeze is readily and inexpensively available.

I've always thought the external cast iron weights were worth considering but water is a whole lot cheeper and much more readily available too. Check with a Ag tire outfit for their opinions on water weights. But don't go CaCl.

Just my opinion, I took the CaCl water out of my 8N because I didn't need the weight/traction mowing the pasture and it sure rides eazier.....Dell

Dell, I was under the impression antifreeze would detorate the tubes? Here in Az we pack the tires with ice for weight. Michael Az.

Michael..... Does anti-freeze rot your radiator hoses?. Anti-freeze certainly is much more iron rim friendly than CaCl. Packing ice in the tires...Well, Arizona in May is certainly not North Dakota in Feb (burr).

BTW...I was taught you need to thin the blood in the summertime with gin and tonic and in the wintertime to thin the blood with burbon and branch. Anyways, I was told that it was the ice that gave ya hangovers (grin)..... Dell

Thanks for setting me straight on that, Dell. I know what the calcium does to the wheels. Now my big question is, why would anybody want to use it if antifreeze will work? Oh, no my silicone water hoses doesn't rot. Are standard hoses rubber, like inner tubs? One of my 8Ns I just brought home from Ohio and I'm getting the calcium out of the tires. Here, we have to use Tequilla for blood thinning. Hey, would that work in the tires? Michael Az.

Nope, the worms would eventually eat through the inner tubes!

LOL..... ...Ed

P.S. Dell, you're a man after my own heart! Tanguerey & Tonic in hot weather, Wild Turkey 101 in cold weather. Don't get no better than that!
