My 8 just has the cover over the PTO like you said. If I intend to hook up a brush hog to it, what else do I need, and where do I get it? Iv'e got a york rake on it already, but I just finished paying for the tractor, so I haven't picked it up from the old owner yet. What other stuff do I need to know? I just sent for an operators manual, hopefully that'll help too.

SOB,
If you are going to run a bush hog you WILL need an overrunning clutch. The bush hog will come{ as with all modern equipment} with a 1 3/8" Female coupler. You will require an overrunning clutch with a 1 1/8" female end to mate to the PTO of your 8N and a 1 3/8" male end to hook up to the bush hog. When this is on your tractor there will be NO cover over it. VERY DANGEROUS. A service manual is very handy as well,if you are going to work on the tractor yourself. I have not run a bush hog on my 8N. There are lots of experts on that subject on this board who will gladly give you advice. Limiting chains for the hog come to mind. As for where to get your equipment,I do not know where you're from, your Ford/ NH dealer will likely have info on Bush Hog brand rotary mowers. Good Luck DaBrow.
