My original 9N radiator has been soldered, patched, beat, dented, and pushed in at the top. But it works (or worked before I stripped the tractor apart). I am trying to keep as much of the original parts or obtain original parts. Am I crazy to want to locate a 60 year old radiator for a 9N? or is the concensus out there, locate an aftermarket radiator? and forget the original radiator? My intent (wether it is right or not) is to rebuild this tractor so that it meets the specs and parts original to the years it was manufactured. I have to say, that after stripping the paint from the radiator top, I was impressed by the brass pentagon shaped top of the radiator, and would like to restore one and keep the brass look. Thoughts about this would be appreciated, and by the way, does anyone have a 9N radiator they recently replaced with an aftermarket that worked and is in good condition? I would be willing to negotiate a price of you're willing to sell. 9N'er

I've found there are 2 types of radiators on 9N's. There is a slender one (no more than 5" thick from top to bottom). These are available after-market for about $160. Then there's the one like I have that has a large tank on top, the mounting brackets for the side panels are made onto the radiator, and it's threaded on the bottom for the 2 mounting bolts. This one I am told is no longer available. I'm told a slender model will work but you have to get all the add-on stuff so you can bolt everything back up. Hope this helped a little.

Best Regards,

I thnk you're right. The Radiator I have is the second one you refer to, and I'm thinking it's orginal. It has a large pentagon shaped tank on top, with mounting holes underneath and side mounting holes too. I'm hoping someone out there has one kicking around that is useable and serviceable. thanks for the post reply! 9N'er

A radiator shop can put in a new core.
