I remember reading a post about using a hotter plug to reduce the fouling of spark plugs. I believe the plug number started with an NK. Does anyone remember the full number? I have searched the archives but failed to find what I was looking for.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Sam

Something you might want to consider trying are the surface gap plugs like those used in some outboard two stroke engines. They are especially loved by commercial watermen because they have a very wide temperature range and resist fouling superbly.

Agree about the plugs. If new plugs and a tune-up doesn't help, consider checking valve adjustment as well as wear and free play in and around the distributor.

Sam, I have a note on the cover of my I&T manual listing Motorcraft AL7C as a plug to try. I got the # from a post somewhere on the net.

I haven't used the NGK plugs (NGKBP4HS). You might want to try Autolite 437's as an alternative. That's what I use in my 8N.

Try searching "NGK;plugs;foul" , and follow thread. The number should be there. Good Luck, Eric
