Bob,

I saw a posting over at Machinery Talk a couple of years ago on removing the studs for the lift arms on an 8N. One of the responding replies suggested going through the PTO opening to reach the nuts on the tapered studs. I've not personally done it that way. When I broke mine about 20 years ago, I took off the axle housing to repace the lift arm stud. I don't have an 8N now so I can't confirm the writer's suggestion.

Any comments?

It seems to me that mainstream America more and more regards Memorial Day as the opening of the summer. As the years go by fewer and fewer towns and cities have any sort of parade or ceremony. Lots of sales and shopping events. I guess this is natural as fewer men and women have worn a uniform over the past several generations, and while the public, and the politicans, give lip service to veterans, the American public does not want to be bothered.

Kipling, I think, said it best with Tommy Adkins.

"Its Tommy this and Tommy that, and Tommy do go away, but its thank you Mr. Adkins when the band begins to play".

My thanks to all veterans this Memorial day, and to those still in uniform, especially all members deployed overseas, thanks for your service also, and keep safe.
