This is the "dumb wife" writing for some help -
Quickly can someone tell me how to lift the mower deck on back of my husband's 8N tractor?

I ran over a wire fence just now and stalled the tractor. Engine is fine, but I need to get the fence out of the mower blades before my husband gets home!

Sandy,
I have found myself in similar situations and I find Cherry Cheese cake usually breaks the ice before you confess the news. Of course, even when husbands are understanding, you still will hear the rolling of their eyes as they hit the top of their heads.

Good Luck
Bonnie

Best wait till he gets home. If you start the tractor and move the lever on the right of the seat the deck will lift but it will not stay up with out the tractor running. Do not try to remove wire with tractor running. Best way is for one person to use the lift and the other to prop the deck up with logs, bricks etc. Then shut the tractor off and block wheels and then remove wire.

I agree with the others, please wait! While your waiting, prepare his favorite dinner, get his pipe and tobacco out, clean and oil his guns and fishing tackle, and turn the ball game on when you hear him pull in. Just kidding of course! -----Michael Az.

Sandy the best thing to do is wait for your husband. If you try to lift the deck the blade will turn at the same time. This will cause more damage. Have you husband remove the drive shaft and then lift the deck. Turn the tractor off and support the deck befor removing the wire.

Good luck

Bill
