ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED.THE SERIAL NO ON ENGINE IS(9N250080) I NEVER REALLY RAN THE ENGINE SO I DONT KNOW IF GOVERNOR WORKS OR NOT.GOING TO REBUILD THE ENGINE THIS WINTER. You can put an 8n gov. on a 9n engine or a 9n gov. on an 8n engine.[frt. mt. dist.]What you can't do is.....put an 8n gov. on a 9n tractor or a 9n gov. on an 8n tractor. The linkages are all diff.except the linkage from the gov. to the carb.I'm sure this is clear as mud.Anyone who does not understand what I'm trying to say ,can call me at 1-888-355-9937 and I'll be glad to explain in detail. don

What your saying is they will bolt to the engine but not connect to the carb?

Yes, they will bolt to the engine and connect to the carb.BUT....the throttles and throttle linkage is diff.and can not be swapped from an 8n to a 9n or visa versa. don

Don, Will a 8N gov work if you use the throttle arm from a 9N gov on it? Looks like it should.

That's not his problem. He has a 9n engine in his 8n,which is no big deal. The 9-2ns have a long throttle rod that bolts to the top of the engine and runs from the dash to the front of the engine.8ns do not have this set up.9-2ns have a short linkage that connects the throttle lever to this rod at the dash and a long linkage that connects it to the gov.at the other end. Also a linkage that connects the gov. to the carb. This linkage is the same on 9-2-8ns.The only diff in the 8-9-2n gov. is the arms[frt.mt.dist.] don

How 'bout turning off the CAPS LOCK on your keyboard? It makes your posts easier to read. Thanks.
