I recently replaced one of my rear rims because of rust and deteroiation. Now I have one filled and one not filled rear tires. The local compactor/recycle center will give me all of used antifreeze I need. The question is how do I get it into the tube?? Also is there anything wrong with used antifreeze? It is in a 55 galon drum now. Should I pump it into a clear container and see what it looks like. I don't know if I would know what bad antifreeze look like.

Now I know what the locals used to talk about while they sat around the pot bellied stove in the general store. How to keep the the old tractor working.

Thanks for you help.

Thanks Jim for all your help!!!
I guess I need to learn more about these machines and their capabilities. I just bought it and am just having fun right now. I would like to be able to run a rototiller but if it will cause headaches down the road with the sherman trans. I guess I will leave it be.

The next stanza (or maybe the previous one) by Kipling was something like:
"For its Tommy this and Tommy that, and chuck him out, the brute, but its hero of his country when the guns begin to shoot..."
We went to the cemetary today and had a few minutes of reflection on all the friends and relatives we had laid to rest there; my wife has some from every conflict for the past 160 years there, and of course, some that weren't even buried there, but in various areas around the world that most people wouldn't even know of today. I hope we as a country never forget that what we have today is the result of unimaginable sacrifices on the part of a lot of people.

Please enlighten me... I was of the impression ,from numerous earlier posts that CaC12 was not in vouge any more. Apparently it is not toxic, but being as corrosive as it is, I came to understand that an alternate solution would be preferable. I believe that is where I first heard of using anti-freeze, specifically RV anit-freeze. The fact that RV anti-freeze is not toxic, as opposed to automotive types, seems to give this idea much merit. I have not checked locally for price comparison information but I believe that RV type is no more expensive and possibly cheaper than the auto product. Does anyone have some difinitive information on this aspect of weighting rear tires? L. D.

Yeah, I've been there and printed that drawing out. It was the guideline that I used. The coil is a new 12v without an internal resistor. The guy that owns the local shop gave me the resistor and said that it was the one that I needed for a 12v. The points are brand new, also, and I set the gap at .015, per the instructions. Do the connections sound right? My next move is to get a multimeter and check out the connections and see where I lose the juice.
