for anyone who read my post yesterday about the N in the commercial. It looked like it was going really fast. Our 8n can only go like 20mph

so it raises the queston of how fast can a ford 8n go??

I have an 8N with a Sherman Hi/Low. It will go a few MPH faster than the maximum speed rating on my rear tires, which is 20 MPH.
Only tried that on the road, for a minute, steering didn't seem too healthy at that speed!!!
And bones break easy at my age. Hee! Hee!
Wanted to race title for title with my brother-in law "who doesn't have a Sherman" but the dummy (who is 70) broke his hip triping over an air hose. Maybe next year.

Per the sherman transmission chart, a 9N/2N in 3rd will go 8mph at 2200rpm, a 9N/2N in 3rd sherman step-up will go 18mph at 2200rpm. An 8N in 4th will go 15mph at 2200rpm, an 8N in 4th sherman step-up will go 23mph at 2200 rpm. Philip.

I have done some unexpected "wheelies" that would make a drag racer proud.

if doing the chores it goes slow. try chasing your wife we do it all of the time when life slows a bit. it's great fun.

When I was a kid my brothers and I discovered that a 8n with empty haywagon will go just fast enough that you couldn't catch it, even running as hard as a kid can!

I get 12-13 mph in 4th at full throttle, but I don't have a tach so I don't know if I'm churning the 2200 max rpms.
