Ok I have a working Howard Tranny and Rotavator.
The Howard will cut speeds down to where it took my 52 8N about three minutes to cover 125ft at 1600RPM,in first gear. Yet the PTO Rpm remains the same as when the Howard is not engaged. I believe Dell has said that the stepdown ratio is 5 to 1. Just How fragile is the Howard? I can't say for sure, But I suspect that more than once, The machines were being heavily used for something other than rototilling when they failed. My machine had several owners and rather poor maintenance and the unit is still working. The person I got the machine from loved it. It is well worth saving in my estimation. Now! Can anyone get me a coupler/connector for the PTO to Rotavator? It's a splined sleeve on the PTO end and a three wedge/lugs flange on the other, Rotovator end. Reminds me of a lovejoy connector only about 2 1/2 to 3 inches in diameter. The whole thing is probably about 6"inches long (I'm not sure of that) Regards, Rich
