I have a '52 8n and my neighbor has one we think is an earlier model but we arent sure. I know we can check the serial number to make sure his is older than a 52, but i also would just like to know some of teh differences. I looked over it fairly quickly and just noticed the distributors are mounted different and his fenders dont say Ford on them like mine. Are there any other differences in the tractors? Lookin at pictures i think i kinda noticed slightly different hoods, but then again it might just be me. if u could just tell me some of the differences from 47 to 52. thanks!

For quickies, as you noticed, the early models had a front mount distribuitor, the late 52's had a bulge in the lower left side of the tranny housing for a lower rear gearing, early models may have thge genny on the right side.

There are a bunch of other differences, in the engine,( piston sleave material, # of rings on the pistons ) and steering componenets( radious rods, and also how to lube the steering gears / bearings, etc ).
