(As most of you already figured out) looks like this doesn't work. In a force analysis of dragging a log, the 3PH linkage can be treated as rigid (vertical forces are in balance, or
else linkage would be accelerating up or down).
Thus, if the load line is horizontal and, say, one foot below the rear axle, the effect is the same whether load is attached to 3PH or simply to a drawbar. In plowing the draft point can be (and is) below the ground. Drag plows, which just attach to the drawbar, move this point 18" up or so to where there drawbar attachment is, increasing the backflip moment on the tractor. Ferguson's genius was to provide a way of applying the tendency of the plow to 'forward-flip' against the tractor's tendency to 'back-flip'.
