This is a picture of my 1950 8N (3300 pounds with rear tire ballast and back blade on) pushing my non-running 1961 6000 diesel (7000 pounds and no brakes!) into the pole barn. The pole barn is slightly up hill. It took 4 tries, but finally got the 6000 in. Had the front wheels up in the air on the 8N every time. If I have to do it again, I will probably hook up to the rear utility bar to keep from popping wheelies, or just use my truck. Time to start working on the 6000. Philip.

I didn't know the bumper was that strong! I've avoided a lot of work not trusting it. I guess it'll do more than I realized.

I think I would have pushed from the rear of the 8N. Would have been more stable. Hooked to the rear bottom clevis hitch would have given good control. The leverage from the drawbar might work against you. HTH

Wouldn't have had enough traction to pudh it in reverse.

Ron's right....probably not the smartest thing you ever did. If the front came off the ground, it means the hitch point on the big tractor was too low. You want the front to be pushed sideways or down. But I bet when that front end came off the ground you had good traction....lol.

Be careful

Ron..... ....Philip said he had his rear blade on the 3-point hitch which extends behind the tractor and would prevent a rear axle tractor rotation roll-over. 2nd, the picture clearly shows the 2 tractors are mechanically linked by a long pushbar (pipe?) and for the pusher to lift its frontend high enough for a roll-over, it would also have to lift the 7000# pushee. Not going to happen.

Your point is well taken about tractor roll-overs, but in this case I think Philip did it right..... ..... ..respectfully, Dell

You guys reminded me of something I was going to do ages ago. I am going to put a recever in the garage floor so when something craps out, I can drop my "winchonapost" into the floor and haul the turd in. I also stand by previous comments I have made that a Four wheel drive pickup will outpull/push and OUT SAFETY any small tractor I ever saw.

I drilled a 1/2 inch hole in my concrete floor for a harden 1/2 inch bolt to go in. Then I have a bracket to hook my cable com-a-long to pull them in the shop if needed. That is after I use my tractor to get them most of the way in. Mark H.
