The top link is rubbing against the main control spring yoke where they connect on my 9N . I've been looking around for a top link with a narrower profile but haven't had any luck . Has anyone had to deal with this problem? Thanks

Griding sounds good ,not that much needs to come off the top link . As you can see I'm just now learning about the idiosyncrasies of the 9N even though Ive had the N for awhile I'm just now trying to get it good working order . Thanks for the help

I took the other route. I took my hacksaw to one end of my new adjustable top link. I had to cut enough away, in an arc, so the end would not bind when all the way down against the diff. housing or when up high as it would get on a fully raised implement. I made several straight cuts to get the most metal off quickest then smoothed up the mess with a BIG file so it was smooth and wouldn't cut my hands. That top link STAYS on the tractor it was fit to. I have one top link on each tractor, easier that way.

I also bought a bunch of linch pins and leave them in the lower lift arm pins on every implement. I'm about to leave a top link pin and linch pin with every implement too. I have some implements that need a longer top pin, so if I forget and go out with the one I have been leaving in the loose end of the top link, it sometimes is not long enough - 'nother trip back to shed!

I see we both got tired of all the walking around hunting for the right pin for the implement, and needing a linch pin or two. Everything I have has all the linch pins and it's own top link pin. I have linch pins on the stabilizer brackets under the axles too. No more hunting around for the darn things. Have fun!!!

You got it!! When you can get linch pins for 6 to 8 for a dollar on sale or $0.19 each, catalog price, it is just not worth the time looking for one when you go to hitch up an implement. :-)

anthony....."yeah, the all do that".

Actually, when Fergeson's pattnets ran out and the ASAE engineers spec'ed the 3-point hitch standards, they spec'd the ball joints to a little bit bigger diameter for some reason. If you got a modern toplink then you may have some interferance.

I took a grinding wheel in an electric drill and hogged out my tractors top link socket just a schochee bit and everything fits. The reason I didn't do the top link is there are 2 ends and if I used some other toplink, it probably wouldn't fit eather.

Wasn't much of a job, get the right diameter grinding wheel and wear eye protection and hearing protection and gloves and get ready to rumble..... Dell

Yup, same here, but I ground the outside of the eyes on my top link because I have 3 different mounting holes for my top link, too much grinding cuts into beer drink'n ! (-:
