I'm trying to get the pin out of the yoke on my right lift arm, and it's stuck good. I've tried heating and cooling, and then hammering, but she just don't want to move (do I need to use more than just a propane torch?). I thought I read some posts about a month ago about the same subject, but can't find them in the archives. If I'm not mistaken, WillyN had a method. Any sugestions would be greatly appreciated.

Pins are stuck in the knuckle. If you can not get them out with heat hears another way. Saw them out with a hacksaw then have them pressed out of the knuckle. Atleast this way you will not break anything.

Ditto . . . re: peening it into a mushroom. It'll never come out.

Heat? Probably can't get enough on there with a regular propane torch. MAPP gas? maybe? Acetylene, absolutely! I had some king pins in a '69 Dodge PU that would not budge. Since I had it, tried the propane -- no go. Had someone bring in a real heat machine (acetylene) and they slipped right out. You'll need a big enough jet ta make some serious fire out there. Little ole welding tip won't do it. Need that cutting torch head (without the extra oxygen—you'll cut yur parts in pieces — OOOOoooo:( ) and a flame about 8" long.

Sound's like the end has flared.I took a file to mine and tapered the end of the pin.Soaked it in WD40,took a peice of 2x4 and a 2lb. hammer and coaxed it right out.HTH,:^) Jay 2NSC

I kept spraying mine with PB Blaster, heating it with a propane torch, and finally pounded it out. You wanna be careful not to mushroom the head on it. I, of course, removed it from the tractor so I could wack it with a 3 lb sledge. Just took time, good luck. Tim

Some times you need grind down the pin flush soak it good that way you are not pounding the mushroomed part into the yoke. Mark H.
