Dave..... ..... Checked the link for wiring diagram on the 2N/9N and was wondering if you knew of one for a Jubilee w/12V. Changed mine to 12V last spring and couldn’t get the amp. gauge to work. I am pretty sure the problem is in the wiring, not the gauge. I used it all summer and charging system seem to be working as batt. didn’t go down but once all summer. Would like to get gauge working though..... .....thanks..... .....E. Ray

The amp meter should be between the battery and the hot conection point on the Terminal board. The link has the 12 volt conversion shown near the bottom of the page. Did you use a alternator or a 12 volt generator?

Appears the only two things unclear on there are the two switches. S1 is the ignition switch; S2 is the headlight switch.

Dave's diagram is for a 9/2n with a generator cut out. A '48 would have a voltage regulator. If the issues aren't in the charging system shouldn't matter but if there are charaging issues FO 71 in the FO 4 manual covers it.

Do all 9N's have a generator cutout? How can you identify this? We have had charging problems for a long time. thanks

As long as the 9n electrical system is like Henry built it there will be a cut out rather than a regulator. It will look more like a starter solenoid rather than a rectangular box. Only function is to disconnect the system when engine isn't running so the battery doesn't discharge back through the generator. Charging rate is adjusted at the generator.

There is a slick aftermaret regulator built to look like a cut out. You should be able to find pictures and details in the archives of this board it they are working today.

Of course, over the course of fifty years with lots of horse farmers or electrically challenged mechs under the hood anything is possible.
