I'm getting conflicting data from several sources. Can someone tell me the size of the original hat type rims for the 9N? I cannot seems to nail it down...were they 28" or 32" in diameter and what was the width? 9" or 8" for the narrow width rims/tires? In addition, are "box rims" the same as Hat Rims? thanks in advance...much appreciate the information you can provide to set me straight. 9N'er

"From what I've read and what I've been told", 8 x 32" were the deal until 1942 when 10 x 28" became the standard size. 11.2 x 28" and 12 x 28" tires can be used on these rims.

There were two different styles of hat rim wheel discs that went with the one piece and two piece rims. "From what I've read", one style went with the smooth axle hub and the other was for the hot-riveted hub. Stuff was interchangeable as you can see by the first pic below:

Myrear tires on my 40n are 9.5X32. Does this make it a 10X32"? Are .5 #s rounded up?

thanks...that helps a lot. I suspect, that the lower photo of the rim, disc, and tire is from your excellent 9N. Someday Tyler, someday, I hope to model mine after your restoration...but if I can get close I would be pleased. You set a nice standard to try and achieve. 9N'er
