I just purchased a bush hog for use with my 8N. I can get it level but as I'm mowing the 3 pt hitch drifts down and the bush hog digs into the ground. Can I adjust the 3 pt hitch so that the lowest position is higher?

If you haven't done so already, check out the article called Choosing, Mounting and Using a Bush Hog Type Mower in the General Tractor Information section of the Article Archives listed under Research and Info on the left side of this page. It should be required reading for anyone using a bush hog.

Good Luck and stay safe,

John

Limiter chains would be easy, fast and cheap to fix your problem, but it sounds like your lift cover needs some work, I would say that the cam foller pin is worn and needs to be replaced.

Phil,

You might try limiter chains similar to this picture. On mine I just use one long chain (no brackets) for stabilizing the hog. Works for me. HTH

I fixed this on mine with a set of chains.
I bolted one end of the chains to the hog and bought ends for the top link pin that let you adjust the chain length. I had to get a longer top link pin also. I bought everything at the New Holland dealer for about 15$. Hope this helps.
