Hello friend
I have read you question and all the followups. All of them are correct. One thing you didnt mention about your spark is how you did it .Was it from the plug wire to ground or did you have the plugs attached. You didnt say nothing about changing plugs.Take care-Jhbue

I read that you have lost spark to 3 & 4. If that means it was there before changing all those components then make sure that 3 & 4s wires are pushed all the way into the dist cap. Also,if you replaced the plug wires with non-copper ones they maybe the problem.Try using the old ones... keep us all informed..luck

I assume that the reason you replaced all of the those electrical goodies is because you were not getting a spark on 3-4 (if you were just doing a tune up,and now have this problem, then I would suspect one of the new parts, maybe a cracked cap, to be the problem). Since you are getting a spark to 2 of the cylinders, the coil and the points are ok. I believe the only way this problem can happen is if the rotor is not making contact with 2 terminals on the inside of the cap, or your wire ends that go into the cap on those 2 terminals are not connecting with the cap and the plug wire. I guess I would first take one of the good wires (one that you know is carry a spark ok) and connect it to the bad cylinder and see if you get a spark. If not , then I would suspect that the distributor cap is not seating on the distributor propery. Maybe there is part of the old gasket still on there. Or maybe the hold downs for the cap aren't doing the job and the cap is moving. If the cap is seating correctly and not moving, I would pull the distributor and see if the rotor is wobbling when you spin it. If it is, you have to correct the problem, which is probably a bent distributor shaft or worn bushing or the rotor has a bad fit on the shaft.

points is my first thought and consider that the dist.shaft and lobes are probably worn or loose. check for movement it he shaft and check to see if the lobes are high enough to allow the points to close when on the low between the lobes. You may have to reduce the point gap to allow for this. Good luck.
