On this 9N and about 1/2 way between the oil drain plug and the joint between the engine and the transmission, is a drilled 3/16" or 1/4" hole. What is this for? and/or is this typical? Is it a pressure relief of some sort? or an overflow hole? This also has a minor drip to it. Any insights? thanks. 9N'er

If I'm not mistaken, those holes with the cotter pins sticking out are oil/water drains for the clutch area. If you have a leaky seal between the clutch and engine or clutch and transmission you could fill up that area if it didn't have somewhere to drain, then your clutch wouldn't be worth much.

Jim...that makes sense. I am amazed at the engineering details of these old things...they thought of everything.

This ain't much of a pic but is this the hole your talking about?, it should have a cotter pin sticking out of it, you should find two of these holes with cotter pins, there to drain off any water/oil that might get in these areas, the cotter keys bounce around to keep the holes from plugging.
