it looks as though i can take the oil pan off without taking the front end off if i use a jack to support the rest of the tracter,will the front end stay put, and will the pan slip down and out,if i take the bolts out?thx

You will be way ahead of the game if you pull the hood tank and the front end off the tractor.Believe me you will get into all sorts of problems if you try it other wise.

You have to pull the front end off (wheels & axle) off the tractor in order to get the oil pan off. The axle assembly is held onto the tractor by 6 nuts/bolts that go onto the oil pan itself. You will also have to take off the hood/radiator because the radiator bolted down to the axle assembly. Put your jack stand under your transmission and be careful, that axle assembly is heavy !
