I just bought an 8N ( paid too much- but you only live once) anyway, it is a '52 serial # 474642. Why is it blue? All the pictures are red, but all the 8N I know are blue. Please answer this burning question!!!
Thanks

I wonder what Nolan would say about it. This could be interesting.

The original design upon which your 8N was based was a tractor called the Ford Tractor with Furguson System Model 9N (9 from 1939 and N because that is how Mr. Ford referred to his tractors - nobody ever explained it furrther that I have ever read). The 9Ns and war-time 2Ns were painted all dark grey. When the 8N (1948!) was introduced, Ford and Mr. Furguson had split up and Ford painted the cast iron parts red and sheet metal light grey. Lots of farmers painted the old 9Ns and 2Ns to look like the new 8Ns when it came time to paint them so they wouldn't look so old fashioned.

Same thing happened after Ford went to Blue tractors.

I bet it had something to do with the later Blue Ford tractors.

Yeah, mine is painted blue also. Makes you wonder. It seems like every one I see, other then the ones here on the board are painted blue. Was there a conspiracy or a really good sale on blue paint?
