I have been spending too much time trying to remove the shroud from this original 2N radiator. I dont want to trash the radiator cause it mostly just needs cleaning but I can't get the darn screws loose. Think I could get away with using one of those impact screwdrivers that you hit with a hammer? Also, does anyone know what material these radiator tanks were made of? The green look of this one almost makes it look like old copper. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I would not use an impact screwdriver. I removed mine with a good screw driver that fit the slot in the head of the srew. This is important as not to strip the srew head. It should come out since it goes into brass. (I believe) If that does not work, you could grind of the head of the screw and after removing the shroud, grab the remainder of the screw with a pair of vice grips.

Thanks Claus,
I ended up getting my neighbor to help me swear and hold the radiator secure so I could use one hand on the screwdriver and then used a wrench to get enough torgue on the darn things. They were stuck from rust, but they finaly came loose. Now I can paint the shroud grey and the radiator black like I think they should be. Sometimes it's the lilltle things!:-)
