I don't have my I&T Manual handy. Here's another picayune question: There is a samll screw on the outside of the distributor housing with a couple lock nuts. Did I miss connecting a ground or other wire to this screw...? What purpose does this item serve? thanks in advance (no pun intended). 9N'er

Determined this screw to be a screw that adjusts the timing of the distributor. (I think..... ..)

If it's the screw I think you're talking about, it is on the right hand side of the distributor (when viewed from the front). If so, that's the locking screw for the timing adjustment. The timing procedure is detailed in the I&T manual. The screw doesn't adjust the timing but just locks it in when you're done.

If your talking about the threaded stud on top of the magneto, yes there is a wire that goes to it. Can't remember exactly where it connects to so check your shop manual. Sounds like your closing in on this problem.

Best Regards!!!!! !!
