9N Carb problem

My 39 9N will not run unless I remove the main adjusting screw on the front of the carb.I have taken the carb apart several times and cleaned it but have had no luck, the carb seems to need the air flow in through this area,as soon as I try to replace it the motor will die and will not run again unless this is removed.Something is clogged and i can not find it.I did lose a screw on the main butterfly flap ,which caused it to stick open, this is why I took it apart in the first place,I did not find the screw either. Thanks for the help.

I would pull the fuel nozzle from the venturi and be sure it is perfectly clean and the passage where it goes first.

There is another thing that can make a carburetor act the way you describe and that is if the bolw vent is blocked. Did you make a gasket for the carb? I have seen home made gaskets with the vent hole not left open. The bowl must have a vent to allow gas to enter the bowl when running. The Marvel carburetor is vented to the intake tube of the carburetor just behind the choke buttefly on top of the tube.

Richard, This is a long shot but unscrew the mian nozzle which is right below the butterfly flap and see if maybe the bottom half of that screw or some other crud got down there. Dave.
