I am about to replace a governor on a 42 2N. This will make my 2nd one in about a month. The flyballs seem to be getting out of the holder somehow and it is completly destoring the governor, housing and all. I have used all the setting as instructed in the I&T manual but I have never had the governor to kick in. It seems to be "in" all the time even at idle when I move the throttle about 3 clicks, it wants to kick in and really revs up the motor. I will do all the adjustments on the new one before and after I install it but was wondering if anyone out there has seen this and might know of some causes of it and solutions.

If you have been installing new governors I see no reason for them to come apart like you are describing. There just aren't that many thing that you can do wrong installing an N governor.

Are the governors coming with the levers already installed and the spring? If so it seems like you may be getting inferior made parts.

No, the first one was not new. The next one will not be new, but will have a 30 day warranty. The governors look in really good shape. I took them apart to look for slack and see if i needed to add a shim, but did need to. Under a load, it just does not kick in. I will double check all adjustments on this one. As I say, even with no load, the governor wants to kick in at about 3 clicks.
