9N front rim confusion

Help me understand. Most every historical picture of a 9N I locate on the web shows the front rims with the wide lug spacing (kinda like the old VW bugs). But, some of the for sale 9s I see have the small hub design (like the later 8s). Do all 9s have the same front rims or did the spacing change with a certian years production? If the rims are of the early design, does that mean that it is an early 9N? (OK at least the front axle would be an early axle) And, what year did the front wishbones become tubular instead of I beam?
Thanks Guys you are a great resource.

A question to ask and find the answer to is this: For 9n/2n tractors...did the 19" wider diameter lug placement on these tractor hubs change to the narrower diameter lug placement when the 8N was introduced (or shortly thereafter)? Some early model 8N's had the 9N/2N front hubs...I suspect until those hubs part ran out on the assembly line. On my early 1940 9N it came with 8N hubs...I suspect replacement hubs at some point (it also has one front axle with the grease fitting facing forward, and the other grease fitting facing the rear...go figure...) I'm not anywhere close to any type of expert...(or ever will be) but if you find the answer to that question can you post? good inquiry. I'm curious too. 9n'er

All the 9N and 2N tractors from 1939 to 1947 had the large bolt pattern front hubs. All 8N tractors had the smaller 6 lug bolt pattern hubs. Any that do not match were changed after the tractors were manufactured by their owners. There is a photo in one of Pripps books of the first 8N rolling off the assembly line. It had the small 6 lug bolt pattern hubs on it. Any remaining stock of 2N hubs Ford had on hand would have went to dealers as replacement parts.

Can't help you with the wheel question, but the radius rods changed in '44. See link below for a year by year summary of changes made to N tractors.
