If seated on the tractor, there is a drain/check plug on the right side of the steering column behind the dash. What is this for and what should I be checking for? I am concerned I am missing a maintenance issue.

I made up a fitting with a grease zerk to screw into mine and then pump full of grease which provides lubrication but doesnt leak as bad as the gear oil. When full I put the plug back in and now I have a pre made tool for the next one I need to fill.

YOU SHOULD FILL THAT UP WITH GEAR OIL. SOME N'ERS USE GREASE IN THERE IF THE GEAR OIL LEAKS. MINE JUST HAS A BOLT HOLE SO I NEED A SYRINGE TO GET THE GEAR OIL IN THERE. GOOD LUCK
