Having trouble with my hydraulics (8n) noticed the bolts were loose on the hydraulic touch control lever (htcl). The whole quadrant could move forward and backwards. Could this have anything to do with my hydraulics issues?

You better bet that can have something to do with the lift not working right.

You should raise the touch control lever to about 2" from the top of it's travel on the quadrant and clamp it there with a pair of vice grip pliers. The with the engine running and the pump in gear and the transmission out of gear, snug down the bolts in the quadrant mount and begin tapping the whole quadrant back untill the lift just begins to raise the implement. Tighten the bolts in the quadrant and you should have the draft where it is supposed to work. The position control has to be adjusted internally. It is possible you will not be able to get the lift to raise at all if something is bent on the draft linkage internally or if the anchor for the link on the draft spring rod is bent or worn excessively where it carries the load of the implenent when in the raised position.

I have a jig and booklet with pictures that show how to repair and adjust the 8N lift if you are interested Email me.

Rob..... .yes, loose htcl can cause all sorts of hydraulic issues. Zane has a good procedure for adjusting the htcl, search the "archives" under "Zane" and "hydraulics". Or maybe the "Man" himself will drop by and instruct you. I am not a hydraulic's expert and don't remember exactly how Zane tells you to do it, but he is good..... .Dell

Wow, I just did an archive search for "Zane" and got 4272 hits. Zane's finger tips must be caulous from all that typing.
