Have been reading this board for some time now and finally have something to write about. 20 years ago I bought a 9N for construction work. For the last 16 or so years it has been at a few relatives homes to be used as a yard tractor, landscaping etc. This weekend I finally retrieved it to begin a slow, complete restoration. Serial number is 2042. Drove it on and off the trailer but it needs a good gas tank and line cleaning as it needed some coaxing with the choke to keep it going. It also has the Sherman hi lo feature. Will be looking forward to advice from those that have been there, done that, screwed up a time or two. Nothing beats experience which is to say you learned how to do it right by doing it wrong first.

What an incredible asset you have in that 9N! Send us a picture, for sure. It will be a pleasure watching your sixty-one year old WORKHORSE get spruced back into new condition. Good luck, keep us posted.

I don,t see any aluminum and I never thought about until I started reading this board. Never gave the tractor much thought at all until the last 6 months or so. Now that I have a place to work on it I decided to bring it home to prevent it from returning to dirt. It is missing the grill but I bought one at LeSeuer this Spring. Vertical rods. Not sure if it is right or not but at least an original instead of an import. Only other thing missing is the battery cover. Any available anywhere?

Great. Sounds like you've got a lot of fun work ahead. If you go into the archives, you can get the answers to most of the ??'s that will come up. Be sure to get some nice pictures of the tractor before you do anything. Including dirty old engine shots. You'll want to show off the restore work. Plus we all like to look at other's work. We're Kinda sick that way. As if there was nothing else to do. Ofcourse you'll have to keep us posted. With 9Ners 9N running, there is a void to fill. Or maybe he will Fix up another one. Anyway, Good luck, Be safe. Dale.
