Well Boys (and ladies...although 98% of the chatter I get seems to be from the male portion of society): The Whimpster is coming together. Although she's headless at the moment, I clearcoated the fenders and installed them last night. I clear coated the hood assembly too; but now have to remove a herd of antipedes, arachnids, and assorted winged menaces that liked the hood so much they had to fly right into for a closer inspection. Perhaps, I'll just let that big toothed, wide necked wood borer stay where it is and use it as a hood ornament and as a replacement for the radiator cap...a little silver paint, some clear coating and the wood borer could like it was meant to be a part of the tractor. A little 600 sanding, and another gloss coat should clear those problem up easy enough(wish life's problems and challenges would be that easy!). I picked up the head from the mechanic shop and it was slightly warped, so he planed .008" from it, cleaned it, and it looks brand new. I stripped the nice enamel off it, primed it, and then painted it this morning at 5:30. I feel good about taking a sidestep to resolve that problem instead of full steaming ahed. Well, I'll keep ya posted...if I didn't have to go away this weekend...she would be running and completed. Looks like I'll just extend this phase a little longer and use the weekend family duties as another delay tactic from posting a photo. Ellwood: hang tight...it's getting closer. -9N'er

You could build a temporary paint booth out of 2X4s and plastic. 10 x 10 floor with 8 ft walls is a good size for parts painting. Build a frame work out of the 2Xs with some angle bracing and put straping or chicken wire across at vital points to brace the plastic. You might get a few parts painted before your wife takes it over for a greenhouse.

How did you know she wanted a greenhouse? It's one of the top items on her list to do...don't they call that the "honeydew" list?

They all want one. We have a 56 acre farm and our plans are to move everything indoors. You have climate control, watering control, bug control. I had always thought the proper facing direction of a greenhouse was south, but I saw a show where they said to put it lenghtwise east/west to take full advantage of the arc of the sun. She wants the green house I want the indoor pool and she can plant around the edges.
