I was reading 9n'ers post about the grills on early n's 39-40. I have bought and sold afair amount of n's and have found that 39-40's are ussaly missing the front grills most likely I feel because the aluiminum grills could not take the rough new england landscape rocks ,trees , etc. anyways I have one here right now #14340 and you guessed it no front grill. my bet is that in late 40 ford had used up the aliuminum grills and started useing the steel ones. I am going to pick up a late 40 this weekend and it has all the original tin Etc. and this one has the steel grill. it hasnt seen much use a very tight rig low hrs. been sitting along time. Hope you dont mind my 2 pennys worth from a N junky.

I'll make it a point to get there. If I'm lucky enough to borrow a trailer or if renting one is reasonable, I'll bring the 9N.

I think alot of aluminum grills were scrapped for the war effort, it probably brought a nice price back then..
