I can't seem to get the right lift piston for my 2N. I was considering cutting a wider grove in the new piston I have and putting the O-ring and backup below the two steel rings. Has anyone heard of doing this? It was suggested by a friend. Does the backup washer go below the O-ring or on the low pressure side? I figued to put the O-ring on the bottom of the piston so some oil gets through to it from the steel rings. If I put the O-ring on top I'll have dry steel rings. any ideas. Thanks
RF

The later NAA piston is the replacement piston for these N tractors, I just replaced the piston in my 8n but can't remember where the backup washer goes???, to many Coors lights I guess !(-:

Don't know if it's too much Coors Lite or malnutrition, but they call the "back up washer" (or worsher depending on geography) "back up" for a reason. The O ring goes on the pressure side and the washer backs it up. If you get a leather one, soak it in oil (not Coors Lite).
