Referring to the thread below "Original 8N Grille?" - I posted this photo and asked if my grille is the right one for my 1952 side-mount 8N I'm painting. Thanks for the many responses - and it turns out this is an earlier grille with top pins and holes drilled for a "Ferguson System" emblem.

Now, I'm not much of a purist. It seems to me that the only difference here is top pins that couldn't be seen unless the grille were removed, and holes that could easily be either drilled or filled. It may that a lot of others see it this way, too - because with all this discussion, no one has told me that they want this grille for their 2N, 9N, or early 8N.

Anyway, just in case this "rare" grille will help someone with their project - I'm willing to trade it for an 8N grille that's primed or sandblasted and in good condition. Just fix me up with a good 8N grille and pay the shipping, and we'll swap - I'm not trying to make any money on it.

Or - as sad as it may be, this thing is sure starting to look a LOT like a 1952 grille to me. I'll give it a few more days in case I can help someone out - but I do want to finish my project. If no one wants it before, say, Tuesday Aug. 1, I'll weld those holes and turn it into a '52. Heck, maybe I'll just get a "Ferguson System" emblem for my '52 and really confuse people!

Lemme know if you want this grille. Thanks, - Sam

Tom, it's not so much that I want to sell the grille. I'm in the home stretch of renovating my '52 8N, and this is the only grille I've got for it. Through the folks on the Board, here, I found out that this grille, which has been on my tractor all along, really belongs on an older tractor.

It won't be hard for me to fix the crank hole, patch the Ferguson emblem holes, and prime and paint it - which will make it pretty much indistinguishable from a '52 grille. BUT - it might be that someone here really needs this original grille for their 9N, 2N, or early 8N. I guess these early grilles are pretty scarce, more so than the proper grille for my late-model 8N.

So, I'm satisfied with the grille I have - but if someone wants to get me a late-8N grille in similar good condition, I will be happy to swap in order to help out with their tractor project. Where they can find a good-quality late-8N grille for my tractor, would, I guess, be up to them.
