Yesterday I brought a drawbar fop my 8N. I backed her up to my flatbed hitched her up and all of a sudden she back fired and quit. I unhitched and after a while she started up again, drove around for a while and she quit (loose power) two more times. I had to back up in reverse up a small incline. My boss had a jubilee and he said the same thing happend to him, he got a rag and turned the distributor just a little and that was it. Is this the fix for me? Need Help. Thanks in advance

Another big possibility is dirt clogging the carb. jet. When my 8N had a rusty gas tank, that happened a lot and it acted just as you describe. When it's losing power and trying to quit, does choking help it run better? If it does, disassemble the carb., blow everything out, and put a gas filter in the fuel line.

If choking doesn't help when it's dying, then the trouble is probably electrical.

Don't abitrarily attempt to adjust things. If you want to check the timing, get a timing light and do it correctly, otherwise you will just add to your troubles and even if you corect the original problem, it will still not run right. If John has a tummy ache and gets an apendectomy, will you get one next time your tummy hurts without attempting to check if that is really your problem? I suspect that poor ignition is your problem. A lot has been written on this subject. Please check the archives. Happy Motoring
