I'll take the heat on this if it will save somebody from possible risk, injury or death. Don't use gasoline when cleaning you're tractor parts etc. It is much too risky even with all precautions in place. No sense increasing or exposing yourself or loved one's to unecessary risk. I believe so strongly about this, and I erred in mentioneg the "g" word in a post down below. Repeat, do no use gasoline inside buildings, near electrical, engines, stoves, etc. etc. or to clean small or large tractor parts. It tends to sink, vaporize and lay in an unseen vapor cloud capable of sudden ignition, combustion and explosion. I'll admit that I have used it, and I know of others' that do, but I want to make certain that this point and lesson learned (through my error) is taken by all; even if I get egg on my face, look like an idiot, or other. Don't use gasoline, avoid laquer thinner, or other highly processed and refined solvents or combustible fuels. Use extreme caution when bleeding carburators, checking for spark with a leaky sediment bowl or carburator, etc. etc. Becareful, and be safe. -9N'er

I go to the local car wash with a 5 gal container and get tire cleaner. I get about 3 gals of heavy duty cleaner for a couple bucks.

Try using SAFETY KLEEN instead, this is what all repair shops use. It does a great job of degreasing.

I second. Not to mention the fact, there must be plenty of cheaper things to use. Like Chevas Regal, maybe. :>

Take care, be safe.

Hey Claus, if you will buy a pickup load, I can get it for 21.50 at the Dillons store in town. Lets see how many gallons of gas would it take to get from south mo to ga?

I think the state of GA would not take kindly to this as they would incarcerate me if we got caught. They are very funny about stuff like that here...

I do this because I am a frugal person, and the per milliliter price drops as one buys the larger bottle. Another consideration is that someday I may get 10' of snow here and would have to live off existing caches of goods.
