Control valve wishbone

I have a continuing problem with the wishbone popping off the control valve whenever my bush hog goes over fairly uneven ground. I don't want to replace the top link with a chain, but I have obtained a top link that has about 4 inches of controlled play. Is there a way to make the fit of the balls on the control valve and the sockets on the wishbone fit tighter? I've almost become an expert in popping the valve balls into the wishbones, but its messy and time consuming to have to drag the hog back home from the field.

are you talking about the contrl valve in the rear end on the pump assy?, cause mine comes off every now and then.

Yes, the one that's a bugger to get at--almost impossible, but keeps your arms well oiled. Yesterday I decided to bend the wishbone closed a little, but I found that the awkward angle didn't allow me to get enough force to bend the wishbone together some (perhaps I'm just too old and weak). Anyway, I slipped a loop of nylon cord around the lower end of the wishbone, fed the cord through a short length of iron pipe, and then twisted the cord through the pipe till I thought I had put enough of a bend on the wishbone. Well, I almost put too much, as I had a terrible time getting the wishbone spread enough to put the control valve back in place. But after persistence, prayer, sweat, and near total frustration, I accomplished the fete, with a grandson and neighbor boy watching (couldn't let them down). Now it seems good and tight. Thank you, Lord, and you too, Zane.

You need to squeeze the two links together enough to make it hard to pull the two over the wish bone. I have also taken a piece of wire and tied the two links together after attaching them to the control valve so they couldn't come back off.

You just can't farm without wire!
